Our Process
The Insurance Claim Process Explained
Filing an insurance claim, especially after property loss or damage, can be overwhelming.
Your circumstances can change dramatically in an instant, making it difficult to know where to begin. As Loss Assessors, our goal is to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible, allowing you to focus on recovery. This guide provides clarity and guidance to help you navigate this challenging time.
To file a property insurance claim with a Loss Assessor, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Contact your insurance company
The first step is to contact your insurance company to report the claim. You will generally be asked to provide the following information:
-
Your policy number
-
A desccription of the loss or damage
-
The date and location of the damage
-
Your contact information
Report property damage to your insurance company immediately. Prompt notification avoids delays and allows them to begin evaluating your claim and determining your coverage. The sooner you report the damage, the sooner the claims process can begin.
2. Contact and appoint us as your Loss Assessor
After experiencing the trauma of a fire, flood, leak, storm, or subsidence, dealing with an insurance claim can feel overwhelming. Appointing Gullion Ltd provides crucial support during this difficult time.
Our Initial survey is free and we will provide an indication of the potential loss suffered and carry out a review of your home insurance policy.
We will handle all paperwork, communication, and negotiations with the insurance company and their Loss Adjuster, relieving you of this burden.
This allows you to focus on recovering and getting your life back on track, knowing that an expert is advocating for your best interests and working to secure a full and fair settlement.
3. We as your Loss Assessor will visit your home or premises
The purpose of this step is to assess the extent of the damage and discuss the next steps in your claim. Your Loss Assessor will:
- Gather all supporting documentation and available receipts for damaged or destroyed items.
- Create a detailed inventory of these items, including photographs.
This documentation will be compiled for submission to your insurance company.
4. Emergency Accommodation
Should your home be uninhabitable, we can help assist you in arranging alternative accommodation.
5. Emergency Repairs
In emergency situations, we will act quickly to arrange necessary repairs to your property.
This may involve securing the property to prevent further damage and undertaking temporary repairs to mitigate further loss.
6. Negotiating your Claim
We will then meet with your insurance company’s Loss Adjuster to advance your claim. As experts in negotiation and insurance policy intricacies, we will ensure you receive the settlement you are entitled to under the terms and conditions of your policy.
7. Settlement agreed
Upon reaching an agreement between us and the insurance company’s Loss Adjuster, you will have the option of having repairs commenced or receiving a cash settlement.
8. Life gets back to normal
The final stage of the process is the reinstatement of your property, bringing the claim to a successful conclusion.
